Packaging

Fruition Chocolate, a small batch chocolate workshop located in the Catskill Mountains of New York, approached us to redesign the packaging of their bars. They were unhappy with their previous design—aesthetically and structurally—it didn't stay closed and it didn't stand out on the shelf. Our first mission was to create a die-cut that was easy to build (four steps), and allowed the consumer to repackage and save leftover chocolate easily. We began by scouring the marketplace, deconstructing similar chocolate bar packaging and figuring out what elements worked and did not work. From there, we set out to design the new packaging, experimenting with a range of materials and cutting techniques. After several rounds of testing and re-testing, we had our final die-cut. After we'd created the perfect structure, our focus turned to designing a new look for the bars. Legibility and differentiation were our primary concerns. The bars needed to be easily recognizable and blend together, yet individually pop, when placed amongst the competition. Partnering with the prestigious Aldine Printing, we developed a design on Neenah paper and utilized foil stamping and offset printing to create a luxurious texture.

Photography & Video

In addition to the packaging design, we created visual content for the Fruition Chocoale Website, including the below brand video which takes you through the craft of creating and refining chocolate and confectionaries from scratch, starting with the cocoa bean.
